My Partner Brad and I are doing Kokoda in March and we would like to have our wedding after our trek.
I really want our celebration to be about how far we have come as a couple as well as individuals. I am a hopeless romantic so I hope our day encapsulates my love of romance. Brad is not one to really display his emotions to others and I am really hoping that he sees the romance and the love and feels connected and allows his emotional side to shine through in his words and in the moment. I think an acknowledgement that we have done the marriage in our way, our private way and that what we both care about is each other on “Our Day.
The Setting
Plan A: Palm Cove Beach
Plan B: Alamanda Chapel, Palm Cove — followed by a private dinner for two at Nu Nu Restaurant.
After a gruelling Kokoda trek filled with physical challenges and broken bones, this day was about ease, connection, and romance in beautiful North Queensland.
My Role as Their Celebrant
Wedding planner, fairy godmother, and celebrant.
After their Kokoda adventure and with storms brewing, I focused on making planning effortless and calm — especially for Brad, helping him feel at ease so he could relax and express his emotions in a safe space. I brought together top suppliers, arranged a last-minute wet-weather venue, and created a private dinner setting for two. And yes, there were plenty of hugs (and paracetamol!).

From the very first moment I spoke with Ali, I knew I was in the presence of someone truly special. Her calming and beautiful demeanor immediately put me at ease, making me feel supported and valued. Ali is so much more than just a marriage celebrant; she is a radiant light in what can often be a stressful time.
When my husband and I decided to elope, I must admit I was a bit apprehensive. I was worried that with just the two of us, I might feel underwhelmed. However, this could not have been further from the truth! With Ali by my side, I felt an overwhelming sense of support and love. Honestly, she felt like a perfect blend of my best friend and my mum—someone who truly cared about making our day unforgettable.
Her support went far beyond the ceremony itself—she was my guiding star, helping me organize every detail of our elopement, from hair and makeup to photography, and dinner arrangements.
On our wedding day, Ali was a source of comfort and joy—saying she went above and beyond is truly an understatement! She even showed up at my accommodation to help me into my dress, give me the hug I needed, some reassuring words and drive me to our ceremony, which was not in our plan “A.”
Ali literally held my hand, calmed my nerves, and adjusted the train of my dress to ensure it looked stunning in every photo. And let’s not forget about my husband—while the spotlight often shines on the bride, Ali made sure he was well supported too. She also had tissues at the ready for our happy tears, proving she was prepared for all the emotions of the day.
We had originally planned to marry on the beach, but the unpredictable North Queensland weather had other ideas. Ali’s quick thinking and resourcefulness shone through as she seamlessly executed a Plan B that turned out to be even more beautiful than we could have imagined. Her ability to adapt and create magic from any situation is truly remarkable.
I cannot recommend Ali highly enough. She is not just a celebrant; she is a beautiful human being who poured her heart and soul into making our special day extraordinary.
