A Relaxed and Romantic Tablelands Elopement Story
As a Cairns marriage celebrant, I had the joy of helping Madi and Jason create an unforgettable adventure elopement at Emerald Creek Falls — a ceremony that was relaxed, meaningful, and full of heart. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Atherton Tablelands, their celebration was a perfect blend of romance, spirituality, and laughter (despite the wild tropical weather!).
Their Vision
Relaxed, fun, meaningful, romantic, and spiritual.
They wanted an intimate, heartfelt ceremony that felt authentic to them — a day that celebrated love, family, and connection in nature.
The Setting
Location: Emerald Creek Falls, Atherton Tablelands
Surrounded by rainforest and rushing water, Madi and Jason said “I do” inside a circle of flowers — a magical Tablelands elopement that honoured the land and their love story.
My Role as Their Celebrant
I worked closely with Madi and Jason to find the perfect elopement location on the Tablelands — somewhere with meaning in their shared history. Together, we created a ceremony that was spiritual and deeply personal.
We incorporated a guided meditation and Bach flower essence ritual with their dear friend Kiera, who represented their family in spirit. I helped keep baby Theo warm and happy while keeping the couple dry (as much as possible!) and calm despite the wild weather.
Even as the rain poured and roads flooded, the day overflowed with love, laughter, and joy.
Unique Touches
The ceremony began with an Acknowledgement of Country, followed by a guided meditation within a flower circle.
Their family vows to little Theo were incredibly touching.
As the day unfolded, the weather turned wild — we got flooded in, left our cars behind, and retrieved them the next day! But through it all, Madi and Jason remained calm, radiant, and full of joy — a true adventure elopement spirit.
From the Couple
Ali was such a special part of our intimate elopement, we cannot imagine what our day would have been like without her! From the beginning she was so warm, enthusiastic, professional and really felt like a friend we had known for years. I was worried about not finding a celebrant that would feel like the right fit, but we absolutely couldn’t have found someone more perfect! Her guidance and resources to create our customised ceremony were so helpful, we wanted something that wasn’t super traditional, and Ali created the most sentimental, well written, unique ceremony imaginable! I loved how much she encouraged us to make it as “us” as possible.
On Ali’s way to our ceremony at Emerald Creek, the Kuranda range was closed off and Ali had to go the long way round, up the Gillies (an extra 2 hours to get to us). When she arrived at our very exposed, outdoor elopement location, it was pouring rain! Despite all the chaos, Ali was cool, calm and collected, while also bringing joy and laughter. She conducted the ceremony so effortlessly, her soothing voice was so comforting and she even held our little wriggly toddler while our witness did a guided meditation to open our ceremony. She spoke with so much sincerity, it was clear that she really meant every beautiful word she said about both marriage and us.
There were a few more hiccups at the end of the day thanks to the rain (flooded creek crossings, having to leave her car at the location, the range still closed = a very late night), but despite everything that unfolded, Ali remained so calm, kept everyone positive and really was just the best energy to have in such crazy circumstances.
We are so grateful to have crossed paths with Ali and recommend her flawless celebrant services to anyone who wants their special day to be as memorable as ours. Thank you again, Ali, for everything!”
