A Celebration of Love, Nature, and Handmade Touches
Courtney and Lachlan’s Daintree wedding was a joyful celebration of love, nature, and creativity. Set in the lush Wilderness Lodge, their day reflected their relaxed, romantic, and fun spirit. With handcrafted touches — including Courtney’s ten tiny crocheted plants for décor and wedding favours — their ceremony was deeply personal, heartfelt, and full of little surprises that made the day uniquely theirs.
Their Vision
Courtney and Lachlan dreamt of a relaxed, romantic, and fun destination celebration — something that truly honoured the wild ride they’ve been on together. A big part of their vision was grounding the day in nature. Courtney LOVES plants, so choosing a Daintree wedding felt like the most “them” decision ever. She even hand-crocheted ten tiny plants in little pots as décor and gifted them to guests as wedding favours. Such a cool, heartfelt touch.
The Setting
They chose Wilderness Lodge in the Daintree — lush, green, alive — the perfect backdrop for a couple who wanted beauty, calm, and a dose of rainforest magic. Surrounded by that incredible tropical energy, their destination wedding felt intimate, meaningful, and unmistakably North Queensland. (Just a short jump from Port Douglas, but a whole world of its own.)
My Role as Their Celebrant
I was part celebrant, part fairy godmother, part wedding planner — whatever they needed to bring their vision to life. From guiding them through the lead-up, to delivering their bouquets from Cairns, to holding space for the emotions on the day, my role was simply to support them from start to finish so they could relax into the moment.
Unique Touches
Their ceremony included a beautiful acknowledgement and heartfelt thanks to their parents. We also created space to honour grandparents who couldn’t be there — lighting a candle and placing framed photos beside it, allowing their presence to be felt in a gentle, meaningful way.
And of course, Courtney’s crocheted plants stole the show — thoughtful, personal, and so perfectly “her.”
From the Couple
Ali created the most incredible ceremony for our wedding day! Our ceremony was exactly what we dreamt of. Ali heard everything we wanted and that we didn’t want and put together the most genuine, romantic, heart-felt and personalised ceremony. Ali was invested in our special day right from the get-go and supported us through the entire lead up to our wedding day. She has this calmness and safeness about her, she was able to calm our nerves so easily and supported us from start to finish. Our guests made comments such as ‘the most beautiful ceremony they have ever been too’, ‘such a genuine and sincere ceremony’, ‘her (Ali) words were absolutely beautiful’. Ali, you are amazing! Thank you for making our day so magical!
